The fold up door will be as manufactured by 3rd Generation Doors. The door will be a counterweight balance, twin leaf, hinged horizontally and lifting vertically up into the folded position. Door will be clad, sheeted, glazed or constructed as specified.
The fold-up door is designed to suit most Commercial and Industrial application. It is widely used in service stations, workshops, Ambulance Stations, Fire Stations, supermarket entrances, warehouse loading bays, transport depots, showrooms, factories etc. or where it is necessary to have a very large single span opening or full display of goods and/or facilities.
The fold-up door is a twin leafed overhead bi-folding door, hinged horizontally Lifting vertically up into a folded position and suspended using the unique counterweight balanced system, thus providing minimum maintenance. The door can be easily operated by hand up to a maximum of 1000kg.
Doors can be manufactured up to 30 meters in width by 8 meters in height. Manual Operation (hand operated). Glass up to 40 square meter and 6 meter in height. Sheeted up to 60 square meter and 6 meter in height. Motorised doors up to 30 meters in width and 8 meters in height.
Door frame is constructed using rolled hollow section steel tube members, braced and trussed as required and designed in accordance with the Australian Standards to withstand wind loading in the closed position and provide minimum deflection in the open position.
Frame, guide channels and fittings to be given one coat of zinc rich chromate primer (or otherwise specified).
Door will be fitted with padbolts internally - one fitted to each side as standard unless specified. (Padlocks by others). If motorisation is required we recommend not to use padbolts due to self locking by the motor. All manually operated doors will be fitted with an automatic hold open locking device. (For, when the door is in the fully open folded position).
The counterweight will be fully enclosed and protected using a heavy gauge pressed steel cover to suit dimensions found and will be at a height of two-thirds of the door height as standard and fixed to the guide channel and wall on all industrial installations only.
Escape & Access Doors
Escape and access doors may be incorporated in full or selected heights providing the bottom leaf height is adequate. Escape and access doors are fitted with a standard locking using Lockwood 201 night latch. Other brands are available where specified. The door may be opened inwards as standard or outwards where specified.
Door will be fitted with a heavy duty ramp and cam drive system designed to fully open and close the door. Door will operate at approximately 9 meters per minute (to requirements) using one only 3 phase, 415 volt. 75kw. (depending on door size) electric reduction geared motor incorporating upper and lower limit switches fitted with emergency manual chain wheel operation in case of interrupted power supply, and supplied with a reversing contractor push-button station Up-Down-Stop. Remote control can also be fitted by radio transmission.
Door can be clad with various sheeting materials and profiles. It is recommended wherever possible to use standard cladding profiles which are commonly used e.g. (should replacement by required in the future) zincalume and colorbond finishes are available in hexline as a manufacturing standard. Should profiles be specified, please consult manufacturer on availability and delivery.
Door can be either partly or fully glazed to provide light, give inspection windows or full showroom and retail display. Standard glazing of door is 6.32 laminated safety glass and set in high security aluminium glazing beads fixed to tubular frame. Glazing of doors are to Australian Standards and Specifications AS1288 PART 1-3, 1979. Heavier grades or ornamental glass should not be specified before consulting the manufacturer due to additional weight, deflection and door design involved. Fully glazed doors are fitted with a steel kick plate having a minimum height of 200mm as standard and. increasing in height as a structural member to avoid deflection in the closed position in accordance with door width.
Aluminium Shopfront Faced-Glass or Aluminium Panelled
The doorframe's external face will be capped using aluminium glazed hat section to provide a shopfront faced finish. The door will be divided into window panels to meet door and architectural designs and to comply with Australian Standards. The panels may be infilled with glass (see glazed doors) or flat 2.5mm aluminium sheet. The aluminium will be finished in clear anodised as standard. Other colours are available where specified.
The Bar Grille will be constructed using 20mm square rolled hollow steel section tube welded to the door frame face vertically over the entire area at approximately 120mm spacing. The door will be prime coated using zinc chromate primer (or otherwise specified).
Mesh (steel, aluminium)
Mesh door will be constructed using 50mm square steel weldmesh as standard (or otherwise specified).
Other finishes that are available are plywood, woven wire, perforated sheet metal, alumply and flat galvanised sheet etc.
